Deligny Helps Eagles Soar
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Led by a singles match sweep by junior Nathan Martin, the Morehead State men's tennis team scored a 5-1 win against visiting University of the Cumberlands Monday at the Eagle Center Indoor Courts. Saint Lucia's Kevin Deligny, a freshman at Morehead State, took his season record to 5-3, whilst MSU improved to 7-4.
Playing at number three, Deligny bested Guillermo Alvarez 6-0, 6-4. Martin swept Mateo Pena 6-0, 6-0 at number five. Senior Roger White also cruised in his contest, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Tyler Smith at number six. David Clifford beat Danilo Garcia 7-6 (7), 6-2 on court two, and Seve Day won 6-2, 6-1 at number four. Justin Harlow won his first set 7-6 (4) but then lost cosecutive 6-2 sets to UC's top player, Juan de le Llera, on court one.
For the season, Deligny has played and won one match at number one, has split his two matches at number two, and has a 3-2 record at number three for the Eagles.
