Clercent Leads Saint Lucian Volleyball Awardees
GROS ISLET , Saint Lucia, April 29, 2012 - After leading Saint Lucia to the top spot in the 2014 World Championships Qualification Tournament, NORCECA First Round Men’s Group B, Joseph Clercent took home a clutch of individual awards, including the Most Valuable Player title.
Clercent was also selected as Best Scorer and Best Spiker of the competition at the Beausejour Indoor Facility on Sunday night, just two days ahead of ahead of his 25th birthday. "I really worked hard for it to give myself a good birthday present," Clercent admitted.
Three other players from Saint Lucia were among the other awardees during the closing ceremony. Benson Tertullien copped the Best Libero, Kaji Charles was named the Best Server, and Servin Mungroo was given the trophy for Best Setter.
Marlon Williams of runner-up St Vincent and the Grenadines was the Best Receiver in addition to being the Best Digger while another Vincentian, Cleuvvan Cumberbatch was the Best Blocker.
Final positions: 1. Saint Lucia, 2. St Vincent and the Grenadines, 3. Grenada, 4. St Eustatius.
