Double Bronze, National Records for Dani Beaubrun

Already qualified for what will be her second go at the Olympic Games, Saint Lucian swimmer Danielle Beaubrun continued her preparations for London by creating waves at the prestigious Mare Nostrum tripartite grand prix meets in Europe this month.

This circuit brings together the three most renowned 50m Swim meets in Europe and is one of the first international tours attracting a host of world-class swimmers.

In Barcelona, Spain on 2 June, Danielle posted a new Saint Lucia National Record of 32.14 seconds in the 50m breaststroke. On that occasion she captured the bronze medal, trailing only Spanish medalists Marina Garcia and Concepcion Badilla.

The previous day, Danielle swam in the B final of the 200m breaststroke to set another Saint Lucia record with a time of 2:43.21, whilst her 100m breaststroke time of 1:11.25 placed her 10th of the 26 swimmers entered for her pet event.

Moving to the south of France in Canet at the second leg of the tripartite meet, Beaubrun confirmed her 50m prowess by taking a further 0.1 seconds off her earlier National Record to win another bronze behind Rebecca Ejdervic of Sweden and Yuzhe He of China. This new time has Beaubrun now ranked 49th in the world for this event for 2012. She then swam 1:11.21 in the 100m and placed 6th in the B final.

From France Beaubrun returned to Fort Myers Florida to continue her Olympic preparation with only the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships (CISC) in Aruba in late June as her final preparation event.
