KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University track and field athlete Mandela Clifford has been named Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.

Clifford set or tied meet records at last weekend's Findlay Division II Team Challenge in both the 60m and 200m. The junior from St. Lucia, West Indies raced to first in the 60m with a time of 6.80 to tie a pair of former athletes in the same event for their top marks at Findlay. His time tied that set by both Kendall Stevens of Findlay and Lincoln’s Kimour Bruce.

He added to that a time of 21.79 in the 200m (converted to 21.49, as the track is a flat track) to not only win the event, but set the meet record time in the process, breaking Jamaree Gordon’s old mark of 21.81 set last year. His time in the 200 is the third-best mark so far in Division II.

This marks the third straight week that the Blue Tigers have swept the Track Athlete of the Week honors on the men’s and women’s side, as Mandela's fellow Blue Tiger, Judith Riley was named female Athlete of The Week, after Roxroy Cato and Nyoka Cole took the honors in back-to-back weeks.
