Five Wins in Two Weeks for Beaubrun



The Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) swimming and diving team demolished two conference rivals Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University in two separate meets as the FGCU prepare for the CCSA Conference finals 17-19 February 2011.

On 22 January FGCU swimming and diving team took the top spot in all 12 events scored to beat in-state rival FIU, 178-75. Danielle Beaubrun, a sophomore from Vieux Fort, St Lucia, placed first in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:05.43, then teamed up with Vicky Cadge, Butler and Christina Tanninen to win the 200m medley relay. Her team also won the 200m freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.60.

One week later, the FGCU swimming & diving team downed visiting in-state rival FAU, 182-59 Beaubrun took first in the 100m breaststroke, touching in at 1:05.50. In the 200m medley relay Cadge, Beaubrun, Butler and Tanninen finished in the top spot with a time of 1:46.80.

FGCU now begins its preparation for the 2011 CCSA Championship from 17 February at the University of Georgia.

The CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association) comprises 13 Universities across the southeastern United States: Campbell, College of Charleston , Davidson, Florida A&M , Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Howard, Liberty, North Carolina A&T, North Florida, Radford and VMI.

FGCU has won the Championships for the past two years and the Eagles are odds on favorites for the threepeat.
