Kingsborough College took second place in the 2012 City University of New York Athletic Conference / US Army Indoor Track & Field Championship at the New Balance Track & Field Center this past weekend. Queensborough Community College swept the men’s and women’s titles with 117 points on the men's side and 146 points for the men's crown, whilst KCC had 96 and 80, respectively.
Saint Lucia's Zenia George, a sophomore at KCC, stormed to the 800m title in 2:18.92, the second-fastest time of her life. Zenia, a two-time National Junior College All-American for Kingsborough, copped the first-ever CUNYAC gold medal of her outstanding athletic career. Also a cross-country star for KCC, she beat teammate Monique Fleming (2:24.01) for the half-mile victory.
George and Fleming teamed up with Melissa Clarke and Bosede Daramola to run 4:08.58 in the women's mile relay, cruising to a 0:29 victory over QCC.
