Team Saint Lucia is preparing for the 2016 Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Swimming Championships, 11-13 November in St Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Saint Lucia Amateur Swiming Association (SLASA) is working to raise funds for the team. This weekend, SLASA will be hosting a fundraising event, a Swim A Thon, at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre.
South African-born 2008 Olympic silver medallist in the 10-kilometre open waer swim, Keri Ann Payne will make a guest appearance and address all present on her journey to being a medalist at the Olympics.
The event is taking place on Sunday 6 November from 10am to 2pm, with food and drinks on sale. SLASA hopes to generate funds for the 33 swimmers who will be repping Saint Lucia in Kingstown.
Memebers of the OECS team and members of SLASA will be swimming as many laps as are sponsored by supporters. The public is invited to swim and get their laps sponsored, or to sponsor laps.
