Daniel, Augier Lead Saint Lucia CARIFTA Swimmers

Joshua Runako Daniel and Jordan Augier are among the top medal contenders as the Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association has named a seven member squad to participate at the 2012 CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held at the Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatic Centre in the Bahamas, 12-15 April 2012. Runako has grown from strength to strength; recently winning multiple gold medals at the Barbados Long Course Championships. The butterfly and freestyle sprints are his strongest events. Jordan will be swimming in the boys 15-17 age group and SLASA feels his improvements in the backstroke will make him a contender for metalware in Nassau.

Jason Beaubrun and Christian Andrew will also compete in the 15-17 Boys, Jason for the second time. Fourth time qualifier Thalia Bergasse (13-14 Girls) has demonstrated continuous improvement over the past 12 months, excelling in all strokes but with the backstroke being her favorite. She clearly is one of the swimmers to watch but will have stiff competition in that age group. Anthony Francois will do battle in the 13-14 Boys. And lone 11-12 representative Jhasi Daniel makes his second CARIFTA appearance alongside brother Runako and is expected to make a good showing in the 50m freestyle and butterfly.

SLASA has named Jamie Peterkin as Head Coach and Lily Bergasse as team manager.
