Mega & Superman Contest Raid Du Lougarou

Two Saint Lucian runners took part in the 25th edition of one of the leading road races in Martinique, though both competed for clubs based in the French overseas department.

Fresh off contesting the North and Central American and Caribbean 10-kilometre race, Michael 'Mega' Biscette and Jason 'Superman' Sayers took part in the Raid du Lougarou in Robert, Martinique.

The 15-kilometre road race was won by Saint Lucia's Zepherinus Joseph in 2011. On this occasion, the two Saint Lucian competitors did not fare quite as well, finishing eighth and 10th.

Running in the early evening on Saturday, 22 October, Jean Mane Uwajeneza finished in 50:18. Competing for Fonds Nicholas, Biscette (55:59) was eighth, and Sayers of Golden Star (57:38) was 10th.

Both were the best finishers from their respective clubs, out of scores of runners, most of them from Martinique. Both Sayers and Biscette are members of Saint Lucian club, Road Busters.
