Deligny Leads MSU to Third Straight Win

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Outstanding young St Lucian tennis player Kevin Deligny led his Morehead State University men’s team to a third consecutive three match victory in three days this week, with a 7-0 defeat of the University of Charleston. The Eagles won their third consecutive contest, improving to 4-3 on the season, while Charleston fell in its first match of the season.

Playing as a second-year freshman for MSU, and occupying the number one spot for the Eagles, the 19-year-old Bill Adams Tennis Academy graduate triumphed 6-2, 6-3 win over Charleston's Dennis Okoth at the MSU Indoor Courts. His teammates, Seve Day, Justin Harlow, Roger White, Nathan Blum and Nathan Martin each won in straight sets as well in singles competition.

MSU won at all three doubles courts. The top Eagles team of Deligny and Seve Day beat the number one Charleston duo, comprising Okoth and Samuel Humphrey 8-5. The team of Harlow-Clifford came off with a win by the same score on court two, whilst White combined with Hugo Almonte to win 8-6 win on court three.

“What a way to finish three matches in three days,” said Head Coach Kevin Fulton. “I was really kind of worried about how we would come out mentally. I knew physically we were going to be okay. I felt like we struggled a little bit in doubles, but about halfway through the first round of singles, I really felt like everybody stepped up. I look forward to getting back on the practice courts and getting ready for conference.”
